To Danni: ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS
by You Know inq 1: where does the bible say god's name is jehovah?
in all probability, the bible that you have does not have the name jehovah in it, anywhere.
we too have a fraternity, a brotherhood, gods family is what we are, and if anyone dishonors the congregation by conduct unbecoming a minister of god, shunning, or disfellowshipping as we call it, is gods means to deal with such ones.. q 7: how can a person isolate themselves if you chose to knock on peoples doors outside your religion?

I notice you have no valid response.
You cant trap me with your little psychological commitment games.
Do you expect me now, to start trying to justify and explain why I have no need to save face?
I know all about that game.
I reserve the right to be in error on anything I say, and I wont lose sleep over it. Unlike your organizations terror stricken, fossilized, Governing Body, quadruple checking every utterance to make sure they arent contradicting themselves.
Thats what happens when you claim your every utterance is a divine revelation.
Their old bones will just have to stew in the soup of their own making. -

Now that you have stopped your unwarranted personal attack upon me, I will respond.
Simply put.I do not consider yourself and You Know as part of this board. You are, to my mind, two troublesome poltergeists who haunt the place, dispelling a bad spirit.
But you really shouldnt take my words so literally brother Yardirf,
I generalize, not everything I say is to be taken as a literal dispensation of absolute opinion. After all. I do not claim to be a fount of absolute reason and truth.I am not an oracle. I will leave that job to your precious Organization. -

STUPID-ASS WT QUOTES thread

Another Finished Mystery quote
page 53:..." The special messenger to the last age of the church was Charles Taze Russell,He has privately admitted his belief that he was chosen for his great work from before his birth. His mother died when he was 9 years old, and at the age of 11 Charles formed a business partnership with his father, himself writing the articles of agreement under which they transacted business. When he was but 12 years of age, his father found him in the store one time at 2am, poring over a concordance"...
Similarities between CTR and Jesus there!
Jesus at 12 was found in the temple, going about his Fathers business, was he not?
Hows this on page 57:..."The amount of work that pastor Russell achieved is INCREDIBLE,
and it is doubtfull whether it was ever equalled by any other human being"...Obviously the Pastor was the greatest man who ever lived, next to Jesus of course.Equally obviously, Judge Rutherford, that dilligent
"Rooter outer of creature worship" disapproved most virulently of this books being published! -

Yes. It is Finished Mystery.
FM published a whole load of whacky stuff the Organization would rather were forgotten.
Among those things, page 183, shows that He who would "Rule the nations with a rod of Iron" would be AntiChrist.
Current understanding is that JESUS is that Rod weilding ruler.
I mentioned in another thread earlier, that the "Rider on the White horse" in Finished Mystery, is SATAN. Current understanding is that this Rider is Christ Jesus.
Finished mysterys interpretation of Revelation is completely contradictory to current interpretation of Revelation by the Dubs.
Why did they publish it? I hear you ask.
Russell dies shortly before.
He was a theologian, and there was noone of his calibre in the org after he died. The Organization was in a state of total confusion for about 9 years after he died, and they published a LOT of very whacky shit during that time period.
Hope this clears the matter up for you. -

SPEAKING IN TONGUES
by D wiltshire ini am a believer in christ have been df'd since 7/01, but left the jw's in my heart for some time before that.. i feel that the gifts of the spirit didn't end in the 1st and 2nd century but should continue until the church is no longer on earth.. i have been to serveral different christian groups and have heard many speak in tongues, but to be honest i'm not very impressed.. it seems to be, not supernatural,.. but more like the reaction you get when you jump in very cold water, and get a terrible chill that makes your jaw vibrate.. the women seems to be the most prominent ones in speaking in tongues, so i wonder if it is just an emotional response, more than any thing else?.
and if paul said to limit the speaking in tongues to just 2 and only if there is an interpeter, why does the speaking in tongues become so prominent at these meetings?
and how come i never hear a translator interpet what is said?.

I heard an interpreter convert the tongues once.
Revival Centres International, but thats the only place Ive ever heard interpretation. Generally, Ive not been very impressed with them either. Its quite easy to do if you just go with the flow of the meeting.
Did you hear about the "holy laughter" movement a few years back?
10,000 people all laughing their asses off fit to bust a gut is quite a sight. Tell me, would it be possible to be in the midst of a building full of people all roaring with laughter... and not laugh yourself?
Not likely. I laughed, The whole pentecostal thing relies on that mass hysteria, infectious aspect , one of those mysteries of human psychology. And believe me, the people running these movements are not adverse to a little "social manipulation" to get the manifestations flowing. -

You Know a Spiritual Coward
by AlanF inhere is another unequivocal example of a claim of direct inspiration: in the olin moyle court case of 1943, fred franz said under oath that no man is the editor of the watchtower.
who, then, is the editor?
who became the editor?

Yes Earnest, I am waiting too, looking forward to full, in context transcripts. Ive read vastly in Jehovahs Witness material and no disagreements are resolved with selective quotation. Unfortunately "Apostates" are, for the sake of brevity, forced to resort to SQ because of the slippery verbosity of Watchtower material.
One must read and entire 6 page article, getting a feel for the guts of what it is saying, in order to get a full handle on the depth of
the slippery, deceptive reasoning. A full idea or concept may be spread over numerous paragraphs, diffusing it, so that it registers only in the unconscious. There is no substitute for extensive ,in context reading of vast swathes of WT historical material. Have you done yours?
Really? If you have read it all in detail and context I might wonder why, as last time I spoke with an elder he discouraged reading Historical JW material because it contained "Satanic Ideas".He doubtless, was thinking in terms of material published prior to 1919.
But tell us all why such material, comprising some 40 years of WT history, is now off limits. The reason is simple, what was written in those days laid a foundation for all the twists and turns of doctrine that followed afer Jehovah "purified" his organization post the "captivity".All the material from the entire Russell era had to be systematically dismantled, piece by piece, and refuted.
Why? because the passage of time proved Russell to be completely in error in his expectationist claims. -

This is one of those things Ive always found curious about the New Religious right in America. Pat Robertson , Jerry Falwell and the like.
They claim the Bible predicts the rise of an Antichrist political system, yet they constantly strive to prevent this system coming about .
This appears to be working against Gods purpose.
I believe they are caught in a mental bind, between their "expectation" and their organizations burgeoning membership.
I guess thats their convoluted little problem .
